The Metal Detector is a melee weapon in PAYDAY 2 released as part of The Alesso Heist update.

Overview

The Metal Detector is a somewhat compact melee weapon for the particularly sneaky, trading damage and knockdown power for excellent range and swift attacks, though due to its less-than-perfect concealment it tend to stick out during stealth if not supplemented by other low-detection gear.

Tips

• Players deal more damage per second with this weapon by attacking as quickly as possible, rather than fully charging attacks.
• If a player wishes for more damage, it is recommended that they get Berserker, Pumping Iron and Bloodthirst Aced from the Brawler skill tree.
• If a player wishes for more knockdown, use Martial Arts Aced.

Trivia

• This type of metal detector is commonly used at places such as airports and prisons to detect metallic objects during a manual search of a person.
• The device is likely deactivated, as it does not react (e.g. beeping) to anything metallic on the player's character or in the environment. 
• The Metal Detector can be seen as props in The Diamond and Hoxton Breakout (Day 2).
