The Spy Camera is a portable recording device carried by spies to gain intel an get the upper hand in the field of espionage.
|
The Spy Camera is a deployable in PAYDAY 2, released as part of the Espionage Weapon Pack.
Overview
When starting the heist, the player will be given 2 cameras with a whole team bringing a total of 8 cameras. Once a Spy Camera is placed, players can interact with it up to 60 meters away to see what the team's Spy Cameras can see, but unlike the Camera Feed asset they cannot use it to switch to CCTV or Drone cameras in a heist. Each camera can be picked back up but only by the player who placed it.
The Spy Camera automatically marks guards and special enemies with a slight delay. Controlling a Spy Camera directly marks every enemy in its sight at once without delay.
Tips
- The Spy Camera will be placed similarly to Trip Mines, but as the two deployables behave differently it is recommended to place a Spy Camera in a position where it has a clear or good view of where you wish to monitor enemies. Unlike trip mines, Spy Cameras cannot be destroyed.
- The Spy Camera can apply High Value Target on enemies that are marked by it, but during stealth Trip Mines might be preferred due to the skill More Firepower allowing a player to have more potential guard patrols highlighted.
- A Spy Camera can be used during a loud heist to keep tabs on a specific spawnpoint or chokepoint for special enemies, marking them when they enter the Spy Camera's field of view, giving you and your teammates a brief visual warning.
Trivia
- This is the first deployable that was added in PAYDAY 2 since resuming development under Sidetrack Games.
- The Spy Camera is the first deployable in the game to have more than one visual appearance, having colors that are similar to the peer colors used by players in the HUD. This extends to the camera filter specifically for the Spy Camera.
