Description
The RAVEN is a bullpup 12-gauge pump action shotgun. It has two tube magazines, each of which holds 7 shells, giving the gun a huge capacity despite its' compact size. In addition to the standard layout, RAVEN mods include a shortened version - making it a very viable stealth option - and an extended barrel/mag for improved accuracy and carrying even more shells.

The Raven shotgun is a primary weapon available in PAYDAY 2. It was added with the release of the Gage Shotgun Pack DLC, along with the M1014 and Street Sweeper Shotguns.

Overview

The Raven is a compact and powerful pump-action shotgun with a unique, high-capacity magazine design. It is a straight upgrade to the Reinfeld 880 thanks to its equivalent damage, fast reload time, vast magazine capacity, increased stability, potential for high concealment, and faster weapon switch time.

The Raven is capable of extremely high concealment (up to 30) comparable to a CAR-4 but with much higher damage. Also, like the CAR-4, the Raven has good iron sights that make it comfortable to use without an optical sight. This makes it easy for a Ghost build to maintain a single-digit detection value even when carrying a secondary without great concealment (or wear armour while maintaining a low double-digit detection value). Thus it's an excellent primary for stealth heists, either silenced or as a high-damage backup weapon should things go loud.

Tips

Due to its very large magazine, it's even more important with the Raven than with other shotguns to do frequent tactical reloads (reloading before the magazine is empty) and to interrupt reloads when necessary. Though it has a slightly faster reload rate than most other primary shotguns, the large magazine still takes a considerable time to fill from empty.
- Shotgun CQB and/or Bloodthirst Aced is highly recommended if one wants to reduce as much of it's downtime possible.
As noted above, the Short Barrel and Flip-Up Sights make the Raven into a highly concealable yet still powerful and effective primary weapon choice for when heists go loud.
If using the -4 Accuracy Boost, one might prefer the Shark Teeth Nozzle over the Silent Killer Suppressor for a dodge/crit build. As the reduced accuracy helps the Raven potentially hit more targets.
- Coupled with the Short Barrel, the Raven's accuracy can be reduced to 24 and still have a good concealment rating of 26.
As with all shotguns, carrying a longer-ranged and more precise secondary weapon is recommended for engaging distant opponents such as Snipers.
The Raven shotgun can provide huge damage when in close quarters, enough to one-shot a Medic or Taser with one headshot on Overkill, so make headshots count if you don't have enough ammo.
As of update 242, Dragon's Breath ammunition is capable of scoring headshot damage like regular ammo. With Berserker Aced, either version of Frenzy for the low health, and a Shark Teeth Nozzle, the Raven will reach a base damage value of 90.2. This is exactly enough damage to kill a Maximum Force Responder unit with a single headshot on any difficulty with the afterburn's 500 extra damage factored in.

Trivia	HE Round Equipping a shotgun with HE Rounds creates a makeshift grenade launcher, with a significantly smaller and weaker explosive effect that can be used to quickly destroy basic wooden doors, blasting them into fragments with a single hit. Gameplay-wise, it is rather pointless to use HE Rounds in conjunction with a silencer, since the shot is silent while the resulting explosion is not, and thus will still cause it to be heard. Trivia	Flechette In reality, flechettes do not always increase a shotgun's effective range. They do, however, marginally improves pellet grouping due to the flechettes' aerodynamic shapes while also offering a limited degree of armor penetration, and markedly increased accuracy down range in the case of tungsten carbide flechettes. The armor piercing effect is only noteworthy on personal body armors, though, as specialized plates and reinforced steel shields are usually dense enough to stop the projectiles dead in their tracks.

Trivia	Dragon's Breath Round The usage of Dragon's Breath shells with semi/fully-automatic shotguns in the game is highly unrealistic, as the real-life equivalent of these shells are specialized low-pressure shotshells, thus will not produce enough gas pressure to operate a full cycle. These shells are realistically used with manual-action (pump, break, lever, etc.) shotguns only. The behavior of the Dragon's Breath shells in-game was most likely based on the misconceptions surrounding the ammo type that are commonly featured in videogames. Unlike standard buckshots, Dragon's Breath shells do not fire any "real" projectile out of a shotgun's barrel, they turn the shotgun in question into a mini-flamethrower instead. The chemical packets are ruptured and ignited when the weapon is fired, and produces a moderate fireball that exits from the barrel instead of flammable pellets like portrayed in-game. Due to their tendency to foul the breech and barrel of the shotgun with chemical residue, Dragon's Breath shells are impractical to utilize as they can impair the weapon in question's performance after prolonged use.

Trivia	LED Combo The LED Combo is based on the Leapers, Inc. UTG LED Weapon light and Laser. Although the main flashlight has a toggle switch, the laser sight component of the LED Combo is pressure-activated, meaning the laser will stay on as long as the pressure switch is depressed. This switch is not placed where it should be, however (on foregrips, magazine wells, etc...) and is instead ziptied to the main taclight, leaving no plausible mean for the user to toggle it without awkwardly moving their off hand off the weapon and gripping the attachment itself.

Trivia	Military Red Dot Sight Upon release, the default reticle of this sight was a chevron instead of the retail version's red dot. After the release of the Gage Mod Courier DLC, it was reverted to the regular sight's red dot. It is functionally the same as the standard Military Red Dot Sight, but the sight's casing is tan instead of black with the line "A-10" scrawled on near the adjustment knob. The sticker on the lens cap's interior also says "I <3 Payday" instead of having a picture of an American flag. This sight was based on the Aimpoint CompM2 optic. While it is portrayed as a high-zoom scope in-game, the CompM2 is actually a reflex sight, meaning it offers no magnification in reality.

Skins

Road Rash is the slang term for the severe friction burns that can occur in a motorcycle fall where skin comes into contact with the ground at high speed.
Lansquenet is the French spelling of Landsknecht, late-15th century German mercenaries, and also a reference to a card game based on them.
Cloaker Gold (Cloaker Gold | Raven Shotgun (2018 Update)) was based on the Prison Nightmare heist.
Evergreen refers to plants that have green leaves throughout the whole year. Trees of this type are commonly used as Christmas trees.
Desert Commando may refer to the 1967 Italian film Attentato ai tre grandi, known as Desert Commandos in the United States.
Raging Goat is a reference to "Raging Bull", which can refer to multiple things, among them the revolver the Bronco .44 is based on.
The Admiral (Raven Shotgun | Admiral), according to criminologist "Prof. Jerry F. Kensington", was owned by a naval officer but lost by his children.

Achievements

Lock, Stock & Eight Smoking Barrels
Own the Locomotive, Street Sweeper, Reinfeld, Mosconi, Izhma, Raven and M1014 Shotguns. Unlocks the Flip-up Sight for the Raven shotgun.

Trivia

The Raven is based on the Kel-Tec KSG bullpup shotgun. It is also the first bullpup shotgun in PAYDAY 2. The Short Barrel mod for it likely came from the KSG Tactical variant with an extended choke.
- Despite the Kel-Tec KSG having two separate tubular magazines, the reloading animation only shows the right-handed tube being fed. The tube switch is never used and the game simply treats the two as a single magazine.
The old inventory icon of the Raven featured a Long Barrel with a unique extended top rail not found on either of the Barrel mods or the base weapon.
Gadgets on the Raven are mounted on the foregrip section, and even move along with it when the shotgun is pumped. Not only that, but they are all mounted on the left, whereas most other guns have gadgets mounted on the right.
The Raven is one of several shotguns in the game to not have the "12G" suffix. The other weapons that shares this characteristic are the M1014, Reinfeld 880, The Judge and Street Sweeper.
